Here is an article written about the program The Lunch Box Bus

A certified USDA Summer Food Service Program

    The
                  Lunch Box

The Lunch Box buses are retired school buses that have been renovated into mobile cafeterias. During the summer months, The Lunch Box buses transport already prepared lunches, each week day in Rogersville and three days a week in Church Hill/Mt. Carmel, into various neighborhoods, where once parked, children & teens board the bus to eat a nutritious meal. The bus is chaperoned by a trained bus driver, volunteers from local youth groups, and other program staff.

Area youth groups are encouraged to volunteer on the bus to help:

    • Serve lunches
    • Clean up between sites
    • Unload the bus at the end of the route
    • Become a "friend" to children and teens who eat lunch on the bus

To learn more about how you can volunteer on The Lunch Box or to request The Lunch Box to come into your neighborhood, contact in Rogersville, Rita Jones at 423-921-8036 or by email at RitaJonesOOA@gmail.com or Jacquelyn Crawford at 423-914-1665 or by email at ChurchHillLunchBox@yahoo.com.
